Myles Oxenford - English

Beachscape 2, 30 x 30 inches
.
Putting the horizon line in the centre of the composition creates a very static feel. In a conventional scene this can be boring, and is generally avoided, but in this square, almost abstract painting it produces a calm, centred mood, bordering on the sacred. Symmetry is a feature of religious structures.
